Hi guys. Are there any hosting sites out there that are as cheap as Hostgator that I can put up some simple sites? Everything I've come across is more expensive. Maybe somebody can point me int the right direction, thanks.
Hi

I started off on hostgator, then they got taken over by another company and my websites became extremely slow.

I then switched to crocweb, which I found out about via webhostingtalk forum, which I highly recommend you visit.

Crocweb was just as cheap, and performed way better than hostgator.

I don't know what it's like now though, since for the last few years I've moved onto VPS hosting with Knownhost.

Best of luck,

Sammie
HG is neither good, nor cheap.
I've shared info with others here and even posted some a while back about this topic.
If you want, you may PM me and I'll share more with you.
if you aren't making money off your sites yet, then i would go the very cheap route for free hosting offers. once your sites begin to make money, i would look in to a more reliable hosting service(not cheap) but taken care of by the money you are already earning. i would then look in to some cloud hosting services. when your sites grow, i would updgrade to a vps.

i wouldn't sweat the unreliability of cheap or free hosting until you start making money from your sites.

if you insist on paying about the same as host gator, then i would try to research a reseller of a reliable hosting company and offer them a deal that you advertise for them on your sites for a discount. they aren't really losing any resources like bandwidth or storage when you are first starting out unless you have a crazy idea and agenda.
