Not a new concept, but perhaps a new and better way to go about this ??
For anyone not familiar with what P2P is, have a look here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer-to-peer_file_sharing
For folks who remember way back when before all the public file sharing sites (and torrenting...) took over, and FTP was about all there was...
P2P came in between and was quite popular for a while because it was more private and untraceable than FTP.
For folks who dislike risks, P2P carries much lower risks than torrenting.
There is no external server as a middleman, nor any openly shared torrent files.
There are now variations of P2P for use between smartphones via whichever wireless channels that those phones have in common.
Anyhow, here's a new offering of it that is neat as it has a windows portable version as well as a native Linux version.

I'm attaching a screenie from their main page with nice details showing as well.
For anyone with a good, fast connection and a PC left on overnight for file sharing this is an especially good way to go about it, by just arranging it for convenience for both users.
I hope this'll be useful for some folks !!
