In an earlier post, smithnowt and I were talking about getting FREE STUFF by using an .edu email address. This type of email is affiliated with an educational institution so basically, it's for students, instructors, and others at a high school, college or university.
So basically, you're getting the same free stuff and discounts reserved for all students if you can provide a school-related email address.
But you don't necessarily have to be affiliated with a school to have one. There are services that can do it for you ... for a nominal fee.
I just found this "ad" as an animated gif header on the forum moments ago. I'll point you to the thread but this isn't the person I remember buying my edu email from. Still, based on posted comments, he seems to be delivering a quality service at a fair price.
