I too bought this back in the 1980's. There were customer reviews on every left hand page that were handwritten if I remember correctly? I tried reading it back then but to be honest, it made little sense to me. Just wondering if I was a little young to understand it?

Happy New Year!

No, it had nothing to do with your youth. There was nothing to understand. It's just an example of great ad copy.

The ad promised things that the book couldn't deliver. But made you think it could.

I usually don't respond to reviews but since I also purchased this book through direct mail I can say the writer did his job very well.

Because being younger myself I very seldom bought anything by mail.

He was a persuasive marketer for his time.

His "following" were cult-like, where it was as if they finally found the "truth"; which really was nothing more than teaching 'ultimate selfishness' as the epitome of human's reach.

Graspers definitely do get the advantage in the short-term. Just like a short con.

Always wanting to get an advantage at the cost of the basic trust of others. Wallace's material definitely fits the bill.
