There are many local SMTP apps - this one IS 10 years old, but they all work the same way when they actually work at all - which is iffy at best.
Most others are about as old as this one.
Making the connection directly to the destination server is also quite slow.
ISP port blocking is also problematic and t is possible to waste loads of time trying to get around that.
I've tried using ~5 or 6 such apps and gave up on the idea for all the reasons cited above.
Interestingly, if one looks here:
