before i begin, or you begin for that matter, let me start by saying, this book, which i first read at age 12 is a special book for me. given to me by a mentor who told me to stop everything and read this book, he said to make sure and take notes. anything i did not understand, i was to ask my mentor. it is awesome to have a real mentor like that. at age 12 i did not understand much, but knew the book was important and special. over the years i read it many times. i have been so extremely fortunate in my life because i had an early start and many great mentors along the way.
this book has been a bestseller since the year 1900 and published more than 100 times since then. few books can say that. it has a weird title, so that is not important since it tells you little about its great importance, written in the u.s. in 1899 and quickly became a must read for business leaders and successful people. in those days, everyone said, 'you must read this book!' long before the internet, even the home phone, lol. even before electricity was common in the home, this was a must read book.
the most notable people in the u.s.a. to recommend this book to other people are President Theodore Roosevelt, President John F. Kennedy and Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts! yes, a lot people read this book, some people read it a few times, like i have and you should! stop whatever you are doing, read this and take notes.

Bushido is the proper term for the Samurai Code. It means "The way of the warrior." The Bushido held restrictions on the Samurai, prohibiting them to do many things and to live a very honest life. This is not only good for Samurai, but for everyone as it will make each who follows a truer person. It is a widespread philosophy of work, war, art and spirituality which influenced the entire society. Bushido has it´s roots in Zen-Buddhism and the ethic codes of the Japanese chivalry and Bushido is a philosophical foundation for a range of martial arts such as Aikido and Kendo.
There are seven virtues of the Bushido
1. "Gi"-Integrity. To do the right thing by yourself. A Samurai must be smart in making choices and always chose what is good for the clan. He will make the right choice even if left alone. Practice Gi in everything you do.
2. "Yuuki"-Bravery and courage. To show courage every moment of living, in danger or not.
3. "Jin"- Kindness and compassion. To show everyone kindness and show compassion for all regardless.
4. "Rei"- Politeness. Politeness is different in Japan, politeness is more than just being kind, its about caring about others, and some say it borders an almost love-like feeling.
5. "Makoto"- Honesty. Be true by the actions you show, and by the words you speak. Follow the laws of the universe and you will become a honest person.
6. "Meiyo"- To enjoy the honor. A Samurai must earn honor and enjoy it if he is to satisfying the codes of the Bushido.
7. "Chuugi"- To be loyal. To be trustful, loyal, and show these unconditionally to others.
The Bushido code is a unique set of codes that allowed the Samurai to be the utmost professional warriors till this day. Now, not only is it popular in Japan, it is popular all over the world.
