A minor correction regarding the words 'any device' in the OP; Correctly expressed it would say=>
ANY DEVICE that is capable of getting and using the Kindle app.
There may be some way to get this onto a PC for use in other file formats, but I'm guessing that it must be that many, many of us other ebook using folks are now 'utter failures' for life if/when such methods are not yet known to us.

I do not have a Kindle, nor do I plan to get a Kindle again, having gotten rid of the one I tried for a short while due its severe restrictions and limitations.

Speaking of which, OP, perhaps you might do something VERY helpful and actually tell folks who lack the device or app how to go about making use of this ?!?

I actually read kindle books on my PC, my iPhone, and my Kindle. I send PDFs to my Kindle, which means I can read PDFs in all three places, too. It's great. I tried to get my mom to download the Kindle app on her laptop and phone but she's one of those "has to be a physical book" types. :D

Same with my mother. But I prefer to read on my mobile phone in epub format(ereader prestigio). This is a nice webpage with books http://gen.lib.rus.ec/. And this page saves me lots of money and space.

As with your mom, many of my oldest friends are 'dead tree' books, BUT:

I discovered how much better EPUBs and plain TXT files are on my generic, non-wifi ebook reader some years back - and have been able to carry an entire library's worth of books easily in one hand ever since !!

The sheer delight in using a device which seldom needs a charge and will display books in varying fonts and sizes - and which can be operated with just one hand broke me of the 'dead tree' book preference for good.

Given how easy it is to get non-Kindle ebooks most of the time, there's been no real need to get into whatever it is that will remove the DRM and change the file format - except maybe at times like this where ONLY the Kindle format is offered...
