What do you use to collect Opt-in Email addresses? I am setting up a new site to build a database of email addresses and am looking for the best way to collect them: that is I can create my own database, use some wordpress plugin or outsource it to mailchimp (or something similar). We're talking about large volume maillists, so mailchimp is getting expensive, but doing it myself puts a lot of efford in a largevolume mailserver (if only for the opt-in confirmation)... Any ideas or suggestions what to use?

I have used Interspire Email Marketer with success.

It can handle a large database just make sure you keep it backed up.
