Layna's Personal Note: I'm thrilled to share this because entering (and winning) prize giveaways is one of my primary hobbies.

Most people just pooh-pooh this pastime because very few of the tens of thousands who enter actually win anything. While I find it fun and relaxing, it does involve a lot of effort.

If you're the type to stick with something for a reasonable length of time and can follow simple instructions, you can win anything from gift cards and movie DVDs to a brand new car, shiny kitchen appliances, cash (in 4- to 5-figures) and even a fully furnished dream home!

My house is full of valuable prizes I won over the last 30 years. I'm no different than anyone else so if I can do it, anyone can!

This is one fun and potentially profitable hobby but it is not for just anyone. Definitely not for flash-in-the-pan folks who want something quick and easy. It takes work and that work can be tedious to most people.

The odds of winning often seem astronomical yet ordinary people ... just like you and me ... win prizes regularly.

So, if you think you'd like to have large, name-brand companies like furniture makers, auto dealerships, soda and food manufacturers ... all GIVE you cash, cars, trips, furnishings, etc. then get this book. It's a little dated but nothing much has changed in the prize promotion industry except you can enter more easily online (save a postage stamp instead of going through the postal mail).

I have personally won trips that included luxury car rental, 4-day 3-night stay in luxury hotels, cash ($10,000; $5,000; and dozens of smaller cash prizes from $1,000); refrigerator/freezer, TV and VCR, etc.

When it comes to this hobby, there are two camps - one that sees the glass as half-empty because the competition is so keen and the other that sees the glass as half-full because this is a real opportunity to have your name chosen to win great prizes.

Regardless of how YOU see it, just remember ... you can't win if you don't enter.

This share is for games of chance in the United States and most provinces in Canada. If you don't live in those countries, you will not benefit from this share.

From the Book ...

Each year, millions of dollars are won in sweepstakes and contests by people just like you. In spite of these millions being won, many people still simply refuse to believe that they have a chance of winning. The majority of the population continues to be skeptical about such games, feeling that you simply can’t get something for nothing.

These people feel as if it’s not worth their time or effort to enter.

They often resort to the time-worn excuse, “no one really wins anyway.”

But this could not be further from the truth. You can rest assured that most sweepstakes and contests are completely legitimate, there are very few incidents of fraud or cheating, and the winners are not friends of the judges.

And now that you have begun to take the first step toward increasing your odds of winning, you might want to take a moment to thank those people who don’t enter contests and sweepstakes.

Their refusal to participate only means better odds for those of us who do!

But why does it always seem like somebody else wins? Quite simply, because most people just don’t have the discipline to become a winner. It’s certainly not difficult, but like most endeavors, winning does take some amount of resolve and dedication.

Often, people’s refusal to take even the first step prevents them from going any further. Think about this. How often have you been reluctant to enter a sweepstakes or contest just because you didn’t think you would win?

But how can you possibly win if you don’t even enter? As an old baseball player once said, “You’ve gotta take your turn at bat to hit a home run.”

The same holds true for you.

Hello Layna61524!

If memory serves, people laughed those who clipped coupons and redeemed them for
lots of cool savings, so thank you sharing this. It should prove to be a welcome way to
relax and learn something new, very useful and hopefully rewarding as well.

Regards,
ebizmoney
This should be a worthwhile read. Something to implement thru out the summer. Thanks!
@ebizmoney: You're absolutely right. Most people fore-go the hard stuff; everybody wants to hit a button and get results. It's those of us who don't mind a little elbow-grease and grunt work that gets the win in the end.

This hobby is NOT for anyone and everyone. No way. It's too much reading and writing. If you like to curl up by the TV with a chilled glass of whatever while you print out your name and address over and over again (call me a masochist) then this is the hobby for you. With just a little effort and a bit more persistence, you can come out smelling like a prize-winning rose. It's fun to get unexpected parcels delivered or have the UPS or FedEx truck stop by your place with an overnight letter naming you a big prize winner!

On the reverse side, some people enter and enter and never win. Read the book I share here as a basis. I'm disappointed that Ledoux seems to prefer lotteries in his discussion but sweepstakes are fun and (legitimate ones sponsored by name-brand corporations and smaller trusted companies) are legally bound to award the prizes they promote.

@rebellious: Thanks for the PM; I just answered. Probably T-M-I but I hope it helps.

Thanks, guys!

Thanks
