And also turn off SMB protocol from windows features
Step1: WINDOWS + R
Step2: Type appwiz.cpl that takes you to program files and features
Step3: Goto Turn Windows Features on or Off
Step4: Uncheck SMB protocol

On my Win7 home premium, the SMB 1.0/CIFS is not shown on Program Features Window, should this be taken can proceed to other things. TQ

Just to ensure a wider readership gets the message..

There is certainly a possibility that we will get more attacks, so carrying out these preventative messures on your operating system will assist in warding off any imminent danger.

Thanks for this. I heard today there is another utilizing the same characteristics as WannaCrypt only in stealth mode, not ransomware. Supposedly using machines to mine for bitcoin.
