Relief From Pop-Ups, Pop-Unders and Unwanted Intrusions
Every so often, while reading comments on threads, I hear the frustration from BBHF members who are still dealing with the craziness those mirror creator links throw at you.
You know: the annoying re-directs. The pop-ups. The pop-unders. The auto-play videos that can scare the crap out of you when they blare up in the background.
And, occasionally, the unexpected porn site or fake virus hi-jack that gives you no way to close the screen (there's a way ... there's always a way).
Here's a quick-fix to eliminate (or at least dramatically reduce) the frequency of those ad-whores you deal with while trying to download from a link.
Awhile back, someone on this forum recommended I get u-block.

It's a free and (in my humble opinion) the best ad-blocking solution for Google Chrome. There are add-ons for Mozilla Firefox and other browsers.
It supports the majority of AdBlock filter syntaxes plus it's fast, efficient, light-weight and powerful.
Since I've started using it, I noticed a dramatic reduction in the number of times I've had to combat intrusive ad behavior.
If you're sick and tired of having to "fight" to get to the downloads, get u-block and add it to your browser's extension.

By the way, if you ever get your computer browser window "hi-jacked" where it seems you cannot back out or close the window, simply go to your Task Manager. On older computers, hit the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys but on newer PCs, you click the magnifier glass and type in Task Manager. Not sure how to do it on a Mac.
Then identify the open browser and click "End Task."
The window closes and sends the annoying a**hole away to bother someone else.
From my experience, those virus messages are nothing more than cyber-bullying to extract your money.
You can run a quick virus scan afterwards if you suspect something but generally, these kinds of pranks are just an annoying inconvenience.
I hope this helps some of you ... it's a d*** shame we can't do more to punish these types of offenders.
