I have a blog that I started about 19 months ago. I haven’t had a lot of time to work on the site. To date, the site has only 45 posts. But I knew early on it would be putting a heavy focus on developing Pinterest traffic. I wanted to test what would happen if I built a site where the only form of promotion (aside from standard SEO best practices when creating the posts) was social media. To date, I have only ever purposely generated one link to this site.

The site has a staggering 234,307 pins to 45 posts and consistently gaining.

That’s an average of 5,206 pins per post. Seven of those posts have over 10,000 pins (the top post has over 40,000). 21 of them have at least 1000 pins. The Pinterest account for this site has about 5,600 followers. To date, Pinterest has driven 146,967 new users to the site. The site ranks for various commercial and higher traffic terms, with Google driving a healthy five figures of search traffic to the site each month.

So how did I do it? I wrote up a private case study detailing what I did – with specifics – and it will be the first time that I’ve ever charged for access to something I’ve written. I simply want there to be some barrier to entry.

This is a good case study. It is a shame that the original site countryhick.com and the original Pinterest account are no longer available. It would have been great to do a little reverse engineering and see exactly the type of pins that were created. I can only assume things were changed to prevent just that! :)
There is a new site: "This site was formerly called Hick Country and has since rebranded into Tin Pig!".

The Pinterest board has no pins.
