OK, sample site, and what may the monthly on going cost going to be to keep this website alive ? $37 sounds like a throw away price for a good site, that's why I find this a bit funky.

Not like that, you don't need to spend money to maintain the site apart from domain and hosting cost, You have to do a little basic backlinks which will help you to get some traffic.
