Has anybody managed to create the website from the backup they provide using the WP Clone plugin?

I have tried twice, everytime ended up with blank screen and just WP admin menu on the left hand side. I am not too technical savvy, but tried to search what might be wrong. Have read on WP support forum that the plugin is no longer supported and doesn't work with some versions of PHP and MySQL.

After I tried to run the restore and then deleted all files so I could install Wordpress again, I wasn't even able to do that and had to contact my hosting service to install the Wordpress for me. Is it possible something went wrong with the database?

Is there a free alternative to WP Clone to do this? Or is it possible that the backup they provide won't work because it was created by this old plugin?

I know, too many questions, just trying to find a way out of this. Again I am not too technical savvy.

Every help is appreciated, I like this product and would like to try it out.
