just for everyone's sake, don't use colin's or ignor's template. they are horrible. follow kevin's. keep it simple, one page and above the fold. his guide is incomplete though since he doesn't talk at all about styling. styling isn't as important as the copywriting but the psychology behind styling is still important and shouldn't be left out in any guide worth a d***. he does say use arrows which i guess is part of styling but i feel he is wrong about even the arrows as it shows desperation and is a distraction to the copywriting and what is actually gonna make someone want to give you their email address(hint: it's not the arrows). if you're gonna take that advice, use 1 arrow pointing to the optin form. a downward arrow above the optin form to direct the reader's flow. NOT ARROW where it looks desperate and scammy and spammy. the the styling i would probably highlight the some bullet pint icons in an accent color and use the same color for the cta button background and the arrow and maybe highlight 1 or two words in the headline in red. everything else can be black and white and grey.
anyway, as you can see i don't like any of the examples but the best one IS the guide itself.... igor is so 2010 and the other guy is making it too complicated and sloppy in my opinion. people want a free report or checklist or blueprint etc....not spending their time reading about who you are and an introduction. if you were selling something or giving away something premium...MAYBE... where you would need more of a presell page to explain things than a squeeze page......but that wouldn't be a squeeze page now would it....
hope this helps. i was just researching what was out there and came across this thread and decided to do a little review. it's actually a good share and a great start for newbies...
i wouldn't say it will increase your conversions to 80% but i always think anything above 50% is good. it would depend on where you're getting your traffic from and how your page is actually catered to that specific traffic type but that is what testing is for....
