Need some money now? Just follow these 5 simple steps:
1. Go over to Flippa.com (Like ebay but for websites)
Search for websites that have a lot of visitors but making poor money
Example:
I found a Texas travel information website called: allacrosstexas.com that gets 10,000 unique visitors per month but only makes a couple hundred bucks a month through some banner ads (Google adesnse). It’s going for $1,900
2. Visit the website and note the vibe, links, images, content etc…
3. Go to google and type in Travel Texas or whatnot (note the auto-complete results too). Write down the websites on the first 3 pages who are the closest fit and would probably love 10,000 more visitors per month to their website.
4. Contact all of these people and tell them you own a complementary website with their target customer that gets a LOT of visitors per month ( don't reveal the number) and you'd like to talk about handing it over to them and a good time to talk.
5. Negotiate a deal with them. Remember, this website is selling for $1,900 so you can make a deal for say $5,000 with someone. Get the $2,500 upfront deposit, buy the website, flip it to them and pocket $3,100.
Easy.
P.S. When you get on the phone with them, ask them what the average visitor or paying customer is worth to them. Get them to say it. Because then you can multiply their answer by 10,000 or whatever.
Basically you can find out what they are getting for traffic now and how much they are making off of it. Once you know this, you know what you can get away with charging them for it. Make sense?
Then all you gotta say is “Cool. You just told me that x number of visitors makes you about x every month. My site gets 10,000+ so that means you will now stand to make an extra x per month. Based on your numbers, I'd like to offer my site to you at xxxx. So for x, you make x, sound fair?”
Also – if you need help getting in touch with them in the first place then use this email or Facebook message:
“Hey, I see you own ____.com. I own a site basically the same as yours, you may even know about it. I get a LOT of traffic that would be perfect to have as your own traffic. If you’re open to talking about handing it over to you, book in a time to chat about it: <paste your calendly link here>”
If you go to calendly.com you can create a free account and tell it your schedule, then the app will create a personal link for you to give people so they can book in a meeting with you at a time of their choosing.
This strategy works. The mindset behind this strategy is what’s really important - there is unlimited opportunity around you to make money by helping people get what they need. I could give you 100 ideas just like this one...
