Well, according to Google, it can give a slight boost counting as a “very lightweight signal". They also said they “may decide to strengthen” the signal because they want to “encourage all website owners to switch from HTTP to HTTPS to keep everyone safe on the web.”
If you do decide to do this, here are some tips from Google:
Decide the kind of certificate you need: single, multi-domain, or wildcard certificate
Use 2048-bit key certificates
Use relative URLs for resources that reside on the same secure domain
Use protocol relative URLs for all other domains

Don’t block your HTTPS site from crawling using robots.txt
Allow indexing of your pages by search engines where possible. Avoid the noindex robots meta tag.
Google has also updated Google Webmaster Tools to better handle HTTPS sites and the reporting on them.

personally, i would say it's not worth the switch right now. they will never make it a medium or high priority in the algos or they will be going backwords in how people can take advantage of relatively free search results.
it may be given the same weight as an emd which as we all know know, isn't worth the trouble in finding an emd anymore.
now when i say not worth the switch, i am talking about ranking factors only. it may help a little if you are on page 3-? but when the main goal is 1st page, top 3 results, you will find it's worthless.....
