Copywriting is one of the most important skills a business owner can have. Without good copy, you are dead in the water. You can have a great product or service, way better than everyone else, but if your copy SUCKS.... Guess what.... You are screwed.
I see it all the time. People go out and spend a bucket load of time building a product, starting a new business or set up to provide a service.... Then it is sleep time because the customers never show up.
The marketing the business owner is doing is so flat.... "Hey, I am GREAT, buy my stuff"...
Sorry, that is just not going to work anymore.
The other side of it is that they decide to outsource all of it. They spend big bucks, and are just so happy to leave it to the outsourcer... Problem is, if you don't understand what makes good copy, then you are basically handing the future of your company / venture to a third party and praying they know what they are doing...
While you can outsource, still is a good idea to understand the basics at a minimum.
Copywriting is critical and if you just decide to skip it, you had better have someone on your team that knows what the hell they are doing. Still, I don't like that idea because if you have a falling out (lets face it, shit happens), then your entire financial future may have just left the building with that person.
Study everything you can get your hands on about copywriting. Write stuff and test the response rates, tweak it, work it, live it.....
Trust me when I say that this is the #1 skill you want to be investing your time in as a business owner / entrepreneur.

Someone pointed out to me that my writing was less than stellar these days. Hopefully this will help me improve it quickly enough so that I can see results in all my online endeavors.
