Good luck with making any money with the FE product. Remember domains are for a minimum of a year, so you are going to be building sites for products that are at least a year old and I'd imagine are abandoned as they did not make any money.
The money/value in this would be in OTO1 (developers/flippers rights) or OTO2 (resellers).

There was another app that did something similar- find videos with expired domains. I played around with it, and as expected, didn't find much but junk. People let domains expire for a reason. Usually the traffic has stopped and no money is being made. If you want to scavenge through other people's trash, go ahead. To me, this seems like just another shiny object.
You are absolutely correct. The app was running on Adobe Air ( do not remember its name) and the results were desastrous
