A small review after I read the whole book...

Before reading this book...

...I had JUST delivered a client some emails and he said they suck.

It felt bad man.

When you work your butt off, and your client doesn't even run your emails, you get all kinds of pissed off - trust me.

Then I came across this book title on BBHF. This sounds like me.

Nobody really does want to read my shit.

The more I read this book, the more I realized nobody REALLY DOES want to read your shit.

UNLESS YOU REALIZE ONE THING.

Reading/Writing are very TRANSACTIONAL time expenditures. People DON'T want to read or write if nothing will come out of it.

We may have a conversation with someone boring, but we never read boring.

To deal with that, you have to structure your content a certain way. What you write has to have a point. This is what Steven Pressfield talks about the whole book.

He talks about the best way to write a story, advertising, Fiction, Non-fiction and EVEN PORN!

Throughout the book, he emphasizes The Hero's Journey being the underlying master template for GREAT storytelling, screenwriting, content and even non-fiction.

He eplains the mechanisms of the hook, the build and the payoff. The 3 parts of ANY content you will ever write. Doesn't matter if it's copy or porn script.

In short - This book is a GOLDMINE.

After reading this book, I have MUCH more faith in what to do about my writing. I am much more confident. It has pointed to me a lot of other resources I can refer to.

Overall, I can say I know what goes into great writing. Fiction or non. I know what works, keeps people engaged, why someone will want to and will read my sh*t from now.

PS: The book also flows butter smooth. It's easy to read, easy to pick up ideas from. It's like everything was served to me on a platter.

Thanks a lot for this review, it's reminded me of the power of Pressfield's way of presenting deep and meaningful information. :) (+repped you too.) I'm a huge fan of his book "The War of Art" (which in case you haven't yet ready I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do ^^) and I'm really looking forward to going through this one.
War Of Art is incredible. I have read it 3 times. :D
