IM usually has three elements:
1. Content
2. Traffic
3. Monetization
You need to have Content, get/drive Traffic to that Content and then Monetize it.
When you have an Autoblog to take care of the Content, you only have two of the three elements left to worry about.
And the Monetization can be taken care of with the right ad network (obviously NOT AdSense for Autoblogs) and a plugin to insert that network's code into all your auto-posts.
I'd say that autoblogs can still be useful, if you know how to use them and how to drive traffic there.

Auto-blogs still bring income but don't use Adsense.
I use auto-blogs in adult niche markets and its working great.
