I still don't completely understand to process of getting a WP multisite to use domain names? What needs to be done on the domain name side? thanks!

I've been using the free WordPress MU Domain Mapping plugin without any problems so far.
It's available in the WordPress Plugin repository.

Unless your WP Multi Site uses WPMU plugins like ProSites, I think the free plugin should do the trick for you.

Just a thought..

Anyway.. here's 4.4.2 if anyone needs it.
