Hi qalott
Well, to speed a website
there is a major point that most of people forget when they use gtmetrix to check the speed, keep in mind the test is done from Vancouver canada server (at least in my case it shows me that, im in asia now), so if for example your site is Australian and target Australian people, or french targetting france,
gtmetrix is not the best way to test, and the 5 seconds doesn't mean a thing to you.
But, it's good because, as google page insights too, they give you a list of stuff to can optimize.
Pingdom speed website test, has 5 other servers to test, Australia is in the list (as the example given above).
varvy .com (ex called feedthebot) is good to learn and test stuff, use it a lot.
Note: each website has a different configuration and GOALS, so, there's is NO ONE SOLUTION to speed them all.
Now, my 2 cents:
-Use a light design, woocommerce is great but many of the themes available are heavy and packed with plenty of useless code and plugins, so, pick one with less images, requests, functions, options.
-For blogs i use Genesis, for business website, one of my favorite is fortuna but i delete the slider and the useless plugins, do not use icons on visual composer etc etc, do not use video or image background etc etc, do not always use google fonts (that slows sometimes), to resume just plain clear professional looking (not fancy unless you are in fashion) pages with max 2 colors.
-Forget the sliders, they are useless, a front page or above the fold is used for call to action my friend, nothing else, see video fruit frontpage blog as example. but in your case, just put the main sold / or profitable product only, make it look like a landing page.
-REMEMBER,
your goal is to serve better and get results, not to be SEXY COLORED FANCY.
-w3 total cache free plugin is very powerful, and has plenty of complicated options in it, just find a a step by step guide online and apply the basic options, Paid plugins are good too, but in my opinion, w3 still beats many of them.
-Avoid unnecessary plugins, keep just the main important ones.
-Always search for lighter plugins to use, example: Share Buttons by AddThis, by addthis team, is one of the lightest and faster plugin out there, less requests etc etc
-The goal is EASY and fast surf experience, colors and much code are futile, SIMPLIFY, simplify.
IMPORTANT: always deactivate the plugins you do not use all the time (like image and database optimization etc).
Here an example list of plugin i use in all website as basic:
-StopBadBots: allow me to have real google stats and kick out all the bots.
-WP deferred javaScript, in some sites, i use this + w3 cache.
-Yoast SEO, we know it, right (check the tutorials and apply all options).
-W3 Total Cache, check a complete tutorial and apply the full functions, for the extra ones, test them first.
-Share Buttons by AddThis, we know.
-EWWW Image Optimizer, and i follow google insight and gtmetrix recommendations when they tell me to use appropriate image size + i use photoshop to export for the web as png or jpeg and use the lightest one + no need of large images, the less the better.
-Disqus Comment System, is some blogs only, others i really dont care about comments, so lighter the better.
-ConvertPlug, as i said in this thread, it's really light and better than many.
-Akismet, i do not use it if do not need comments on a site.
-Contact Form 7, rarely, as most of my site, i use a third party support platform.
-Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions, you know by the name.
-Others, i really rarely use a new plugin and always search for alternative or a code to replace it = less requests = faster.
That's almost all.
See, no need of a lot of stuff.
Note, for security, you better have a secure host and all updated to date, NO NEED to be maniac if your site get few dozen of visits, right, let's not forget, backup, backup always.
Hope this helps
