Good share, I do have a question you might be able to help me with.
Currently I have Genesis 2.1.2 and am running the Metro Child Theme. How do I update Genesis Framework from 2.1.2 -> 2.2.6, without breaking anything.
Do I just delete Genesis (Framework, but not Child Theme) and upload the new version?

Edit: Apparently you have the option to auto-update it, without deleting anything. Disregard my question.
Genesis Framework can be updated via the WordPress dashboard, it will remove the framework and reinstall it. This will not affect any child themes you are using, however you should update the child theme to the latest version to ensure everything works properly.
