Have you tried using IFTTT.com or dlvr.it
Does the job without using your server resources,
Anything other Scripts?

Use IFTTT to setup RSS to Twitter
dlvr.it id byf far the best option, and you can seach on github a good twitter to rss wich you can have control over.
