All of my courses that get posted here are ripped shortly afterwards, so I'm not even going to try and stop it. Just know that I update all of my courses with new lectures and content regularly!

Thanks James. Looks like an interesting course. Rep. :)
Thanks for sharing this James. Re your concern - as you know rips can't be shared here out of respect for Udemy and your fellow instructors. My guess is that those who rip or who use rips are probably not lost revenue for Udemy or instructors because they would never have been paying customers anyway, either because of financial inability to pay or because a few will always find a way around the turnstyle. Also, even given that, it is possible that many of these folks could in the future, or occasionally be, paying customers if the get used to getting value our of their contact with udemy. Ripping can be a time consuming activity and at some point one realizes that time is precious and that paying is easier than ripping, especially if you have the cash. In short, these people are not your customers, never would have been and I would guess, do not share with your customers. They are different demographics - even within this community. On the other hand, many in this community actively support udemy by creating courses, purchasing courses, promoting udemy and courses as affiliates or thru referrals, and by leaving revues and thru giving honest and constructive feedback to instructors. I think we can do better at this. I am grateful for these shares and will be trying to think of ways to enhance what is really a kind of partnership here. Thanks again for the share.

Great opening screenshot by the way, looking forward to getting into the course!

Yeah, I know you are right in most respects. Most people who pirate the course wouldn't have ever paid anyway, and if anything they still make me money due to the fact that I tend to promote a few products within the course as an affiliate.
Still, Udemy customers are starting to realize that practically any course is freely downloadable and are turning to that rather than purchasing. These are the people that intended to purchase until they realized they didn't have to. After having torrent links deindexed by Google on two of my other courses I did see a noticeable improvement in conversions, so it is an issue.
Fortunately it's not as big of an issue for me as it is for other people because I update my courses so frequently that anybody who bothers torrenting it will be missing out on a lot.
Can't figure out how to edit posts so I'll post another one here -
Guys, if you want instructors to keep sharing courses here, don't watch 10 minutes of the course and then leave a review less than 5 stars. Sorry to say it, but instructors don't share their courses here to be nice. They share them because they believe it will make them more money in the long run. Do whatever you want with the course, watch it, don't watch it, whatever. But when you unfairly leave bad reviews early on, that really hurts our sales (which consequently, makes it harder to get real positive reviews from people that actually watch the course) and all in all makes us more reluctant to share our stuff for free here.
Thanks for your understanding.
