Full Version: Do you think the private tracker is all worth the money, time and effort?

This is just my opinion, you may disagree if you want.

I personally think it's a lot of commitment to join the tracker for $10/month (you can correct me if I'm wrong with the numbers). They mentioned about the "leecher setup", pay for a month and go away. But I think this can be handled if the tracker has a required maintaining ratio (which most trackers usually have).

The thing with the $10 per month model is that we have a lot of commitments in a month. Aside from paying the monthly fee, we need to actually contribute to the community in order to increase the ratio and pay for seedbox bills or ISP bandwidth (which is an issue in my case).

I'd rather pay $50/year tracker with a required maintaining ratio and limited download GBs (where I get banned if I don't comply) and pay my seedbox, and I'm not even part of the "leecher" setup in this case, because there's a point system that rewards me when I keep my files seeding and my upload points are added every time I seed and contribute to the community.

Contributing to a tracker not just costs money but also time and effort. Too much commitment may mean that we will be spending more money and time on actually hoarding and contributing than actually learning the materials that we have downloaded. When you have a payment at the end of the month to worry about, you will instinctively feel the need to get more from your membership in order to make the $10 worth it. And when that happens you find yourself downloading more in a month than actually reading and applying the courses or software you've downloaded. And the more you download, the more you feel the need to upload more to the tracker because you have to.

I do not mean to post this to rant. I try my best to contribute a lot to the community. Also, I'm a member of several private trackers and I'm maintaining a healthy ratio. I only would like to suggest in making the payment a one-time fee or a yearly reasonable one on top of a very strict ratio requirement to ensure that we get quality members into the tracker.
