The thing about this timer (and I emailed the product creator about it) is that knowing to click on the timer may be intuitive for people in the MMO and IM world but not so much for people who are not.
I guess if the main focus is for people in the MMO and IM world then this is useful but if your target market isn't necessarily IM related you'll probably have to inform them to click the timer or insert an additional 'Click here' link in the email.
