Mushin's Mini-Review and Step x Step on "What Happened!!!"

I downloaded the newest version of WinRAR (normal shareware FREE version) from the software vendors (WinRAR's) main web site. I installed the WinRAR app, and ran it. It worked like normal, showed that it was in the 40 day test time period. I closed/shut down the program.

I downloaded the "Key Generator" file from the OP's 1st post. My anti-virus didn't go off until I used the password to de-compress the file, then Comodo (my anti-virus program) quarantined the .exe file.

I knew there was a strong chance for this to take place, since the "Cracking Groups" who create the "Key Gen's", make them so their .exe files can NOT be scanned internally. This drives the Anti-Virus programs CRAZY, since they "DO" scan all files internally, and this triggers them to delete and quarantine the suspected file. Note, I am not a software programmer, and I may have referenced this technically incorrect, but this is how I remember it working.

The cracking group who created this "Key Gen" was, "Fighting For Fun", who I have never heard of, but I dealt with thousands of "Key Gen" files that acted like this, "Way Back In The Day". I am referring to the "W.a.r.e.z. Scene", which I am no-longer part of, but if you have spent any time in or around "The Scene", then you will know what I am referring to.

To close my "Mushin's Mini-Review";

Ok, guys. Short version, I don't believe there is a Virus or Trojan in this share! I think it is OK, to use and run this KeyGen file/program to generate your own serial number for WinRAR.

Yes, Lots of KeyGen's can and DO have Virus's and Trojan's, I just don't feel this one does. Why? Because it actually created a successful fully working reg file which registered my copy of WinRAR!!!

BUT... You are all Big Boy's and Girl's and should decide and take precautions for yourselves!!!

It is Important to be Careful, but Please learn how to test things for yourself, or ask someone who has some experience in this kind of software. There is nothing wrong in being safe. But, sometimes it is OK to test things out.

you need to copy rarreg.key to
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\WinRAR

copied regfile into C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\WinRAR
