First of all you are absolutely CORRECT regarding the password. The rules from the mods is that the STANDARD password should be used. I think that using personally preferred passwords isn't only against the rules but could also get you SUSPENDED or BANNED if it's something you do continuously.

Secondly you are also CORRECT in pointing out the REP SEEKING activity. Sure reps help because it's a recognition system but anything that looks like a blatant ploy potentially could get the same treatment as above.
