A guy I know that is now a friend has been paying $1700mo for SEO on a one year contract. For a teleradiology company. So I like to track and see what he is getting for all that money. He jumped a lot in the past three months and is now ranking top three for national terms in Google.

What I found is 10 sites like these.

Rocker magazine - theunforgivingunderground.com 14TF 24CT nice link profile.
Law site - luiscarrilloforjustice.com 10TF 50CT lots of spam links
Foot site - therasteps.com 17TF 24CT all Spam

All these sites look regular and real but they have back end blogs or lots of pages that are not listed in the tool bar. He is getting 800+ links from each. And all the content on the page are like this.

http://therasteps.com/inform/compare-and...igh-school

You can’t even read it. And it’s the same spun content on all the sites.

They put 7000 links on in four days doing that. And his company is killing it. The phone rings none stop.

Now for me that's a lot of red flags but the company that is doing it makes 200k a year going by list of clients from there site. And what I know he is paying.

Could be safe based on the eye test? All the sites look clean to the eye test.

Gone
Is he pointing that directly to the company site? If so it will be a matter of time before Google is going to strike back, i would tell your friend ti design a new company website for when that happens, it looks like a C&B method but then directly on the comp site, which is stupid and amateur for an SEO company, doe your friend know the risk he is taking?

He does now. I just found all this a few days ago. I put together a full report for him with screen shots from Majestic. And a bunch of links to the bad content like the one above.

I will keep you guys posted on what the SEO company says after he goes to them with all this.
i think he's into big trouble..Seo is no more a bunch of backlinks to your websites, its just a lil time more needed to let Google notice his website and slap his position down
I am not going to put the SEO company out in the open. That would be bad karma. But I can tell you the main guy has been published on MOZ.com. And not just in the forum he also made some 20 people you should know list that they did. And he got it give some SEO advice on what to do if you only had $200 to spend.

I out rank him locally but he really had me fooled. I know I could not have ranking my friends site that fast. AT first I was spying thinking he was better then me and I could pick up some tips.
I am not sure how I missed but they did 7000+ links in three days. I guess I did not look at that thinking no professional would do that in such a short amount of time.

At this point I am thinking its not "If it will happen" its more of a "When will it happen"
with that amount of bad link he's bound to be caught real soon, too bad for him it will take a lot of time to recover after this...
It makes no sense today to create these type of links. It has been proven over and over again that the Big "G" hates link farms, article directory and spun content. I'm not saying don't ever use links or articles but what I am saying is make it real. It needs to be a quality looking site with good metrics.
Lol! Google is a dumb search engine people think it's the wisdom man who can fight bad content?

Dude I've seen worst, a lot of methods that people think that are dead unusable, are still working now, go check Russian SEO sites they still use link farming as a backbone for their spamming strategy.
Sounds like the PPP system promoted everywhere.
