Yeah, anybody who has to ask for the password clearly doesn't know their way around here.

I'm just getting fed up with the general behavior and attitudes in this f*cking forum! I just left a thread where the link in the OP died and nobody posted a mirror, so the flurry of re-up posts appeared. Now, the original sharer will provide the link via PM, which is a smart way to do it but that could become a hassle. It's more work for him, in the long-run and his inbox will be inundated with messages he'll have to tread through. Once he releases the link, unless it is set to expire after X-number of uses or X-number of days, there is no telling where it will end up.

For this very reason, I will be using my Icedrive account more to post links that can expire if I want them to. I will also experiment with delivering these links to a limited number of people via PM. Not only will I know who I shared with but the links will be abuse-proof if they appear on other sites or B-H forums because they will cease to work in a 24-hour period or a week, for example.

That thread I just mentioned is now 5 pages long with a parade of posts asking for the link to be delivered via PM.

By contrast, I just posted one of the biggest shares ever that took me 9 hours to research and prepare. At the time I write this, it has some 60 "Views" but at this moment, only one person (the other post is my reply back to him) took a second to post his thanks and to kindly rep me.

And the leaders fiddle as the forum burns.
