Now I understand what it means when someone says "Mayweather is too much of a technician" or when Pacquiao said "the viewers want to be entertained"
To me, boxing the sport is about fighting. The gloves are there to give the fighters some protection, but otherwise, the hits have to show some power (head rocks back, sweat flies off the one hit, etc)
The way May does it is Tapping (or touch the head, whatever). This style suits him very well against Pacquiao because of his longer reach.
Inspite of that, the judges count were very close and to think that most of Pacquiao's hits would hurt a lot more, means that they're both in pain right now (Pacquiao = losing, May = physically).
Having said that, I don't think Pacquiao will win under the same rules if ever there was a rematch. He can't score as much due to his shorter reach.
He would really need to go for a TKO if he wants to win. Which of course is riskier for him as well. But he's too much of a warrior to go the tapping way.
However, as everyone saw, May is very good at dancing away, which dilutes Pac's power punches. So TKO will not be easy
Under this situation, I think that under the Boxing Assoc's rules that Boxing = Tapping and Dancing, then May wins.
Of course, I also understand why people are turning away from boxing. These guys are earning hundreds of millions for crying out loud.
If I wanted to see Tapping and Dancing, I would be watcing Dancing with the Stars!
