DO'S
● Find and share original content.
● Repin other people's content.
● Write a description for each pin and include keywords
and hashtags so it would be found on the searches.
● Do pin from the original source to always ensure proper
attribution.
● Comment on other people's Pins.
● Pin frequently and regularly. At least 5 pins a day and
spaced out as much as possible.
● Pin at different times during the day. Try to see at which
times your pins get the most traction. Then pin regularly
during those times.
● Make your boards intriguing and unique so they'll stand
out.
● When starting out, create an initial 12 boards at least.
Create some boards for things that are not easy to find.
You can allocate two boards for your own content.
● Use awesome images for your boards' cover photos as
these are the first things your visitors will see when they
check out your profile.
● Use a secret board to save content for the future. You
can include the original Pin's URL in the description.
● Join popular group boards so you'll have access to
highly-targeted audience and grow your follower more
easily.
● If you can, try to create your own unique content to pin.
● Describe the image literally, like 'bag', 'scarf', 'wedding
ring', etc. Don't just write 'awesome', 'I want this', or
'fantastic!'. People will search for 'bag' not 'awesome'.
● Find or create contents to pin that are vertical rather
than horizontal. The length should be longer than the
width. Vertical Pins get repinned and clicked more often.
● Put your best boards on the top rows for greatest
visibility and easy access.
DON'TS
● Don't edit the source link to the website when repinning
other people's content.
● Don't spam comments with links to your website.
● Don't pin very irregularly. Some days you don't pin, and
others you pin so many.
● Don't just share your own content. Share others'
content, too. Try this rule: 80% others' content, 20%
your own content.
● Do not create a new board then just leave it empty or
with just a single image. Try to find at least 5
appropriate Pins.
● Don't just post anything you find in Pinterest into your
website or blog. Credit the image appropriately. Or
better yet, contact the owner of the image to get his or
her permission.
● Don't just pin random things or create random boards. It
would just confuse your followers. Always consider your
Target Market.
● Don't pin boring and dull images. Be consistent in
pinning only eye-catching pins so they'll get more
repins.
● Don't just download interesting photos you see on the
web and then upload them as your own pins.
● Don't repin images that are not sourced or attributed
properly. You can leave a comment so the original pinner
can update the pin accordingly.
● Don't just copy someone's board in its entirety including
all the pins. Be creative and original.
● Don't always pin the same images as everyone else. Try
to find one or two unique photos to pin each day.
● Don't pin more than 5 images at one time so you don't
annoy your followers.
● Don't comment too often or too much lest you come off
as spamming.
For the Pinterest-savvy, as you can see, nothing really new. Personally,
