"I wish my site would load a little bit faster" = caching, minify css/js compress images (tinypng.com), etc
"my site is taking 20+ seconds to load" = a plugin or another script on your server is using up all of your hosting resources and your web host is throttling you. Disable plugins 1 by 1 to see which one is slowing you down
AGREED with TM3 - You need to disable your plugins 1 by 1 to see which one is the culprit. Delete any plugins you're not using. Cache your site using w3 Total Cache. Someone mentioned WordFence but I've installed that in the past and found my site just crawled. Maybe it was clashing with some other plugin. W3TC worked best for me.
All my sites run on shared hosting so I dont thinks the issue lies with whether its shared or on VPS, Check your plugins and you'll find your culprit. If you like, list them here - someone might be able to pinpoint the potential culprit for you.
Thank you for the info guys
just for curiosity, how many visitors do you have? If you have 1000s of visitors/hour in a shared hosting, it will be slow.
Is this a problem that you have on your computer or is it the
same for everyone that visits to your site?
I agree with the guys above disable your plugins
one at a time until there are none activated.
If you have 100s of images make sure that they are compressed
to small files before uploading.
My website is running on shared hosting and it only started now I installed woocommerce plugin and some other plugin
