Full Version: [HELP] I need to know how to SHARE files correctly

I was told by a moderator that I have been sharing files incorrectly.
I've been finding (in index pages) pages that have 50 to 100 (or more) mp3s or zips. I've been running VirusTotal.com on the URL of these sites and post it on my share. I then put (for example) [GET] Music - Doobie Brothers and MORE! for the title. I list the virustotal findings on the page and a list of every file on the page. I then put the link to the page between the [spoiler] tags. This, I have been told. is a completely incorrect method and I would like to know the correct method of posting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Not a definitive response: VirusTotal is to be done on files not on the URL where the files are to be posted. There is no way VT can decrypt files to actually check them, so password protecting RARs and doing a VT on it is useless. Personally, I check all the executables inside the archive if I have any worry.

You didnt mention what hosting sites/mirrors you were using to host the file. Ive looked for a listing of correct sites, or a guideline/rule of which hosting sites to be allowed and have been unable to locate. Perhaps the moderator can advise.
I have a bit of trouble with the spoiler tag. I've found the best way to make sure that the link/s are hidden is to
type in "the word hide, enclosed in brackets. Then at the end of the link/s, you type the same, but have a forward slash before the word hide."

Magic Button :
the words hide are at the end of the link/s

and that way the link is definitely hidden.
There is a way of clicking the buttons in sequence, but it doesn't always work for me. That's why I manually do it.

I think the Mod might mean that you should 'repackage' better. Put say up to 200MB in either WinRar or Winzip. Even use 7Zip if you don't have those. I don't know what your downloads look like, so I'm guessing they have to be packaged tighter and neater. Then it's easier for downloading.

Also, in most cases don't just supply site download links. You must download the material yourself, then repackage it, use virustotal and make sure to set up sequential 'zips'. You then state what is in each zip file, so members know what they are downloading.

I hope that helps and is what you were after. Good luck with the uploading. Undecided
