Just want to share what I was doing by downloading free premium themes from net (actually a test). Sometimes they doesn't mention its nulled also.Just says free near download button. No reply on asking them also. Surely something fishy.

Test Story:- Once I downloaded a free theme from http://buzzgfx.com/ and used on www.hostgator.com/ to host it.
After few days, I noticed a thousands of new user registration mail updates on my Gmail inbox. I had a tough time deleting all. Even adding CAPTCHA and other security plugins didn't help. Later my account got suspended by hostgator.

they have a lot of security plugins that can test your themes for malicous code, I have a lot of them but forget their names.

hello,
primary, i don't believe that hackers buy wordpress themes to null them and share them for free. they install their script to get baclkinks for free from your website.
naturally, the script code they install in the theme shows their backlinks only if they detect that googlebot ou xbot that demand the generation of page.

I advise you two things:
1 / use free themes from wordpress.org, we can make them look great with little work.
2 / avoid Hostgator, they cheat and install Ads on your website without informing you.

Is it legal to buy or download it for free?
With my own content, pictures.....
Can i sell ready made websites?
