I did it super-fast (in about 20 minutes) and it isn't a product I would sell, but it was fun to write and address the key issue - GBs and PayPal. It isn't even close to a saleable product for me - too many typos, grammar mistakes, and f-bombs.
I started to harden it from a soft X to XXX. It was a little too "touchy-feely" for me, but this is kind of a small lesson in a speed-to-market exercise.
I do crap like this all the time - it's kinda like a boxer sparring, and keeps me sharp for the real stuff I put together with definite intentions to sell.
I just read the thread for the first time this afternoon. The product could have been about anything though. Often - it isn't about how good (or bad) a product is. It is ALL about how fast you put it out there and get it in front of buyers.
There are several other ways to deal with deadbeats and look golden to PayPal - even in GBs or other less than ideal selling situations.
This is only one way, but the real value is understanding what to do when you set any sales mechanism in place - even in simple GBs here. There are always ways to protect your sales and earnings. Old cliche, but the devil is always in the details that can blindside you.
It's easy to setup a sales page and only costs a little to drive traffic to it. But the first thing you have to do after planning your funnel or sales mechanism - the thing the idiot gurus don't teach you is -
You have to change sides of the table and attack your own offer like a pis.sed-off madman!
You have to find all the ways the process can get completely f*cked, and become the deadbeat or malcontent yourself. It is up to you to think about all the things someone can do to screw with your sales process or steal from you.
The gurus only talk about sunshine and rainbows. The Internet is high risk and you have to get ahead of the thieves and problems or you won't last long.
If the gurus had this key part down, a lot less of their shit would exist for free on this forum - or anywhere. You'll always lose some - just like any business online or offline. It should be expected, and there is no such thing as zero-shrinkage or no losses.
But some clever accounting can minimize the actual dollar loss to next-to-nothing.
