Did anyone have tried it?
i did. and i have no words for it. I did a similar project 2 years ago, when i was learning to program in android, and even back then, i did a java server. This app relys in a php server, without protection( no pdo), without encryption.. nothing. By using this, you are exposing your friends, family and other users, who use this app. I mean expose in every sense of the word, you can have access to emails,phone numbers,messages... everything. and you dont even need to be admin for that.
I personaly do not advise, but everyone is free to do whatever they want.

This is the most wise question of them all. To do this app secure, you will need more then free time and knowlegde in php and android programming. If you dont want to change ALOT in the app, you will have to convert all the php server into PDO, and you will have to encrypt (sha-256 is easy) everything that is written to the db. in the app side there is not much you can do, but using proguard is a good choice. There is a small group, around the internet, that is working in something like ioncube, but for android. lets hope they manage to get it working and maybe, we android programmers, start to have some security.
