A Proxy is generally fed into a Software like GSA SER or Licorne or Ultimate Demon so your submitions do not appear from the same IP. So before a task is completed in a software you load a list of fresh proxies into the platform and when it runs your task (like wiki submitions, web 2.0 and forum posting) it loads the task through one of your proxies instead of your home IP.
Usually saved as a Text file and loaded directly into a platform.
