now find me where it says that 'dofollow' exists as a recognised value for rel=. You can put in rel="uncle" and it won't make any difference either.

You are right but in a few cases adding rel="dofollow" prevents the link from automatical adding of rel="nofollow". Maybe it is a case on Facebook...
