When a new course come out there are no buyers and no social proof and reviews are very important for others
who are looking at a course to buy.

So even though the 100 or so "students" is assumes as sales by everyone else we know they are 100% free coupon
making people think this course has been bought and is really popular and valuable.

What would the people who bought think about this if they knew....shhh..

it's not a scam, sheesh... that's how businesses work....

they provide "samples" for people to get good reviews... that's what gets them more sales (the number of students doesn't hurt either...)

you can see the same being done in EVERY business...

you can find free samples of yogurt in supermarkets... that's how they spread the word and get their feedback...

and you act like you are not getting anything from this deal... they provide free courses and they get some feedback plus "social proof"

everybody wins... problem is... most people here are stacking courses and are NEVER going to ever watch them... so the course owners don't get the reviews they want...

that's the f*cked up part here.... these coupons go to waste by leechers...
Yes true Archon it is the business game, and it is a good strategy not a scam.. First In First Served..
The scam I refer to is the deception that people
think the courses have been bought legitimately
with legitimate reviews which is not so.

How difficult is this to understand and why
defend this behavior no matter what company
it is?
Any new coupons?
because that's a legitimate way of doing business... you provide free seats to get reviews and expand your reach...

you don't see the instructors giving coupons in exchange for fake reviews at all.... they give you the course and you can leave a review after you finished it or went through it... most people here don't do that since they don't even watch the course... they are just here for the free stuff, and that's a huge shame....

no one is being scammed here... why would knowing that some people got free seats deter anyone from getting the course? if you buy courses based on number of people register then the problem is with you... i personally look at the reviews and watch the previews to know what i'm getting...

plus when you buy the course you get EXACTLY what you were promised.... so for example if i buy an "after effects" course
i get an actual after effects course....

they also have a 30 days money back guarantee on every course, so you can get a refund if you didn't actually like the course...

so where's the scam exactly?

lots of business provide a huge discount / free seats at an early stage to expand their reach, should they be called scammers as well?

it seems like you don't understand how marketing works or what a scam even means....

don't use these coupons if you think you are helping course owners scam people....
Whatever..

What is for sure is Udemy is making alot of money and
our time is best spent on our business.

I should have never posted as I don't have time for this bullsh#t
