I would appreciate getting some opinions on the best way to go about structuring my domain name and page URL's. Which do you think would have an SEO advantage (if any) and rank better in the search engines:

1. A "business" domain name and targeted pages with city: businessname.com/dental-implants-chicago
2. A "keyword + city" domain and targeted pages without city: dentistschicago.com/dental-implants
3. A "keyword + city" domain and targeted pages with city: dentistschicago.com/dental-implants-chicago

I'm curious to find out if any of this really makes a difference and to know what type of structuring others have been successful using.

people are saying that emd's are being slapped which is actually not true. what happened is that google pays littler weight on emd's but still pays attention to them. as far as keyword stuffing in a url, i am not sure about at this time

the little weight you would have with a keyword in a domain is samll now so i don't think it's worth the risk to keyword stuff a url so i would say #3 is out. #1 and #2 are both good examples except "the best dentists" is not a business domain. that would be a keyword domain.

what exactly are you trying to do? rank for different cities within the same niche(dental) or the same city with different sub niches, or both? or you just trying to rank a keywords that are only targeted to chicago and dental implants?

if you could be more clear as to what you're trying to promote specifically, i can be more specific as to the seo part of it

Hi Kid, thanks for the reply. Well, I am getting ready to rank some niche websites for the city that I live in so I can build some case studies around them. Each site will be a specific niche that I am going to target and one of them happens to be the dental niche. So, I am trying to gather some info about the best way to structure the domain name and pages. Each niche site will have several services that are offered by the company such as dental implants, dentures, etc. I really want to target the "service+city" for the content but the root should target the business "type+city" but option #3 above seems to be a bit overkill.
