All Sony product patches have viruses. They always have and always will. You just have to try and box a bit clever when using them.
Install Vegas from the official download page, then run the patch inside sandboxie and that should keep your machine clean.

I have bitdefender and malwarebytes on my machine and they never throw up anything suspicious when running deep scans, nor does my machine give me any unwanted surprises.
