Copy This Idea - Homework
Find Your Author:
Go to Amazon.com (or whichever Amazon site is local to you)
and search for financial books, published in the last year and
doing well in the charts
.
Alternatively, Google “your niche + seminar” and ““your niche
+ webinar” and “your niche + course” and “your niche +
consultant” - you get the idea. Find somebody who is actively
teaching in the niche.
If your niche is covered on TV, watch out for experts
interviewed in the niche.
Contact author via his / her Facebook page, website page or
publisher (beware the author with no website, not a good sign)
Only aim for a meeting, not the closing of the deal!
This should be obvious, but be courteous and polite.
Meet Your Author:
Make sure you know as much as possible about them, out of
courtesy and to impress them
Have your complete product in mind (multimedia, obviously!)
Have your marketing strategy in mind - chances are that your
expert won’t be familiar with the IM techniques you know
Make sure you explain yourself and your proposal clearly - a PDF
outlining your idea or a Powerpoint Presentation (or both) will all
help to convince that you are both serious and well prepared. Don’t
use geek words.
Explain the financial potential - if you’ve picked your niche and expert
right, this should be enormous and exciting for both parties
Mine Your Author For Fans:
Has (s)he got a list? It could even just be contacts you need to
cultivate from his email inbox.
Get them to put an optin box on their website and Facebook -
consider FB ads to gather more names (always offer a free
bribe with FB ads)
Get your list to opt-in to a ‘proper’ email system such as
Aweber, Get Response etc
Sequence emails in order to build excitement before the
launch date
Your Product
Videos are quickest - simply interview your expert but also be
prepared to think out of the box - my interview with Pete’s
builder was very popular as well as a great selling point in the
run up to launching
For video interviews, make sure your expert is properly
microphoned up (I learned this one the hard way!)
Host your Videos at Amazon
Use Wordpress with Membership software as your product
(physical products don’t matter anymore)
Before you even complete your first launch, start planning your
2nd product, with a deadline.
I literally had people emailing me almost begging to know when
my next product was out. Make your first product count and
you will too. But learn from my mistake - have a second product
ready to go - preferably an upsell (private coaching from your
expert would be an obvious one).
Had my expert been keen on personal coaching, I would have
looked at a price point of £3-5,000 GBP, which at the time of
writing would equal roughly $4,900 - $ 8,150. That’s
per client
,
remember - from the feedback I was getting, I would have
expected 8-10 of the clients
at least
, taking me up on this.
1.
The DVD set would be replaced by a Membership site
2.
The transcribed book would be PDFs
3.
If your JV is an Amazon best selling author, I would put
out a free ebook in the author
ʼ
s name giving away a
taster of the information in the main product.
4.
I would put this on Amazon but also have it available
straight from me.
5.
I would then heavily advertise this free taster ebook on
Facebook and on any other forums.
6.
Set up a Google Alert for the author name
7.
Set up other Google Alerts - niche name, rival authors
ʼ
names
8.
Respond to these wherever you can - they
ʼ
ll often be on
forums, and link to your product (or at least name it)
whenever you can.
