Hi

My client needs to register a domain. Is there any good reason not to use Godaddy who seem big and widely used? If not GoDaddy, then who should we use?
Obviously it is more convenient if we use the same company to host as well, so any recommendations for a company that does both registration AND basic web hosting?

P.S. We have used Network Solutions for registering .com domains but they seem expensive.

Fwiw, we have also used icann.totalnic.net but only once.We then used 1and1.co.uk where were okay-ish but not brilliant.

We then used our ADSL provider Zen Internet (in the UK) for some basic hosting in the past and they seemed okay-ish....
But some of all this was a long time ago! Any other suggestions?

Try Namecheap. They are one of the best domain registrar. I have used Godaddy in the past for my domain names and you have to go through a lot of offers before you can complete your domain registration. Because of that I switched to Namecheap as it is more simple. And they do have web hosting too. (though I haven't tried their hosting).
I think you can't go wrong with GoDaddy. They have a lot of features. However, it does get tiring sometimes navigating through all their stuff. They do have a "domain discount club", but that's only worth it if you are getting a lot of domains.

it would be worth it to get an account at GoDaddy because they have a whole auction site that has a lot of volume, and if you buy a domain there it will go into your GD Account.

Recently I've started using NameCheap (like the previous poster said). Prices are good and the experience is very streamlined. It feels like they are there to help you and get out of your way, whereas GoDaddy feels like they are just waiting for the opportunity to sell you .
