gnucanuck and others who
Have you downloaded the free Kindle for PC application?
Also, some of the Kindle books you can read through Calibre, if they are not locked.
Quote:can not read your ebook even though I have the reading app installed on my PC. I use Win XP SP3.I am also using Window XP SP3 on my main work computer and I have no problem read Kindle books on it.

Amazon will not let me download the book. This is the error message I receive:
"we did not find a Kindle device or a reading app that supports this item registered to your Amazon account.
Register a free Kindle reading app and try your purchase again:"
I downloaded the app for PC but there are no instructions on how to "register" it to my Amazon account.
Note that I have no intention of installing this piece of bloatware (it's 37 MB!!) on my PC. I have other lightweight readers already installed. Is that what I have to do to register the app to my Amazon account? If so, I guess I just opt out of this one...

So in that case you will NOT be able to read most kindle ebooks as kindle is a specific azw format (almost) no other e-Reader reads.
(As I said -except those unlocked ones with No DRM, i.e. Calibre)

@ Zajko
Thanks for confirming that. If I remember correctly OP has offered other books in this forum and multiple members had issues accessing, so it just ended up getting mirrored, so I'll wait for the mirror. I own a Kindle device so I would rather use that than install Amazon's bloatware on my PC and be forced to register it to my Amazon account.

If you are signed up with Amazon you can use their Cloud Reader and read it online. I don't use my xp machine very much I use Linux and I am reading his book online. First you purchase the book, free then use the Cloud reader. I think you can use the kindle app on an android phone.

Thank you, I was just about to suggest that. Use Amazon Cloud reader
or
If you have Kindle, why don't you just download it to it? Much better and more comfortable.
I am using my Pocketbook IQ e-reader for reading most books in the bed.
