I am new to SEO and the site I am doing for a friend is: http://missionsimpossibleltd.co.uk

Was Wonder if any have has any suggestions, I have been trying for ages to get this site ranking but nothing seems to be happening.

For example, about the only keyword I have managed to rank for is "Caravan servicing Northampton" but this guy is beating mehttp://www.dcsmobilecaravanservices.co.uk/ he has 5 pages and 2 backlinks and does not even have a h1 :S.

I know he has keywords in his url but surly that's not beating all the things I have done.

I have done:

Sitemap
Submitted to Google through web-master
h1-h3s
writing loads of articles
getting good backlinks from caravan forums

all the stuff in the book but nothing is happening, its been 3 months now.

What am I doing wrong?

I would suggest learning SEO before actually doing it on a friends site.

Your keyword : mobile Caravan Services or i assume is your keyword since its in the meta title is not even mentioned on the page.

Get your one page SEO right then see what happens, H1 is such a small factors it wont make any deference when it comes to it. The keyword in the URL does give an advantage over domains which do not. Anyone who says otherwise is plain stupid.

The fact you even dare say 'and he does not even have h1' shows how far from even close you are.

Both sites in question are absolutely horrible but how can you be surprised he is out ranking you when your on page SEO is almost non-existent. Your backlinks are also very weak and almost non-existent as well.

I don't know what book you where reading but someone was having a laugh with you.

Do some in-depth reading into on page SEO. Not just one page then run to implement it, get a broad prospective and notice the reoccurring topics to know what is really significant. Spend a good few days doing this so you can really start to grasp the concepts. Look at the current leading pages and see how they have implemented these strategies and where you are missing out. I have already taken a quick look into your niche and although a few of the leading sites are similar in ways to your two examples, they are still be better optimized for there KW's

As others have said, you should get yourself a good SEO book or even read some SEO blogs. What you have already done is quite basic SEO and will not get you much in the way of results. SEO is a long process, so if you aren't doing it properly then you are just wasting your time.
