Lightbulb email discovery and verification resource
Hi Folks.
I just ran across this - and it says it is free (no pricing mentioned that I saw either) - so I'm sharing it in case anyone may find it to be useful.

I make no claims about it as it is new to me as well, so YMMV !!

https://maildb.io/

Perhaps some folks may make use of it and post their observations here ??

RE: email discovery and verification resource
Did a quick check of the site:
  • T&C is dated Aug 2016, but to date claims to have been used by 600+ professionals.
  • T&C: Your content Section refers to text and graphics you upload which could be used and modified by others! Makes me wonder if they may be harvesting emails by allowing users to upload email collections for "verification"!
  • Usage license for the registered user is Personal license! Since it lists company emails and is for personal use, I guess you could use it to buy stuff from companies or complain to higher-ups for issues (only C2B and not B2B or B2C)
  • Shows bunch of Fortune 100 names, but none of the logos are clickable.
  • For larger companies with specific email rules, it may be easier to guess if one knows the pattern: Eg. John Doe could be John.Doe@somecompany.com or jdoe@somecompany.com or john@somecompany.com

RE: email discovery and verification resource
Update:
Checked their tweet history and dug up some interesting facts:
Feb 2017:
  • Faced some heat from compliance officer of an EU org for exposing an email ID.
  • Claims 1500 subscribers
  • Claims not to harvest emails from the submitted user data
  • Claims 10s of millions of emails already "found"
  • Now the Pièce De Résistance: Claims, for an email address to be found and added, it should have been already public somewhere on the net.
In a nutshell: They seem to be scraping the IDs of the web!

Additional confirmation and some details:
https://www.builtinchicago.org/2017/10/1...-addresses
As I suspected before, also uses guessing of email IDs based on format of other IDs in the domain - John.Doe@Somecompany, ...

Fascinating finds Feefiefohfum !!

Frankly, I have no immediate use for such a site myself, but thought that others may, so I shared it here.

Whatever it does or uses may not matter to folks who do need such info, yes ??
Thanks

RE: email discovery and verification resource
Thank you, Smithnowt!

The way their marketing blurb was written I was concerned they had found a way to somehow access the official address books of any company in existence, which uses emails (possibly using some un-patched loophole). However, as they have stated that they only get IDs which have already been used on the net, it made sense. Former could have resulted in the end users facing corporate ire (similar to what they had faced in Feb 2017) whereas latter adds some level of protection.
