Nope - not if you don't want to, you can set it up so you only need to make 1 post by changing the max size of the Snowball.

The last big update for WPSB ended up being pretty silent, and I've had 3 people asking about things WPSB already does now, so I needed to summarize what's changed recently.

I've red bolded the interesting bits.

There's another update due out immanently, which will be v2.2.


Also of the guys on the Business and Affiliate plans, there's been 2 big questions it would be useful to write about here...

What hosting will I need for 300 blogs?

I keep getting asked this and similar questions. However it's not actually anything to do with WPSB, as that won't cause any noticeable load on your server. What you're really asking is how to optimize Wordpress and (probably) a LAMP (Linux, Apache, Mysql, PHP) server.

So what hosting you'll need depends on essentially how much traffic you get, and how Wordpress and your server are configured.

• You can have 20k blogs on the server if they get no traffic.
• And other the other end of the scale, if one blog gets enough visitors - your server will go down.
  

Whilst covering this isn't something that can be done is a quick answer (it's a whole field of it's own), I can give 3 quick tips that will help get you started. (They're in order of importance)

1. Always, always, always use a caching plugin for Wordpress
2. Try to never have more than 10 plugins active at any time
3. Make sure you use non-buggy, well optimized themes and plugins
   
   (The reasoning for these and other tips can be found in the free guide below)
   
   To get further into this, you'll have to roll up your sleeves do some intensive Googling for terms like "Wordpress optimization", "HTTPD config", "wordpress speed" etc. Many of the things you'll learn will apply to any site, on any server and will be invaluable to know.
   
   
   How can I install and manage WPSB on lots of blogs?
   
   I've got a few future ideas for tools to help with this, but right now, here are 2 options for brainfood:
   
   Distributed:
   
   • Lots of small shared hosts
   • 5-ish blogs per host
   • Interlinking is ok (provided you know what you're doing, have done it before, and accept the risks)
   • Higher hosting cost
   • More difficult to manage, so use something like ManageWP
     

Centralized:

• 1 beefy server (specs will depend on the things discussed above)
• Central WPMS install with domain mapping for ease of management
• Network install WPSB and let it rip
• Don't interlink
• Optimize the server well first - the bot crawls alone will hurt if you don't

So - we've just finished the recent update for WP Snowball - I'm sure
the new features will help you (they're already helping me set up
blogs)

Here's the headlines of the update:

New Fast Grow Feature

This is the main feature of this update - you can use this to rapidly
grow Snowballs - which is great for getting a new blog up and running
with a few posts (without having to click around too much)

New Post scheduling feature

You can now tell WPSB to schedule the posts it makes for a random time in between two time periods (adjustable in the settings)

Added Search Keyword To Amazon

This means you'll have even more control over the type of product WPSB
displays for you - you can select between seed keyword (a keyword from
the post that started the Snowball) or core keyword (the relevancy
keywords you entered in the settings)

Shortcodes now Work in the Header/Footer Spins (and the title template)

You can now use any shortcode you like in these sections, standard
Wordpress or a different plugin's - just enter it as part of the spintax
and WPSB will do the rest.

Added Minimum Length Posts

We've added a minimum post length of 300 words - so we don't get any
small posts. You can now change the minimum length to what you want.

Added Affiliate button to WPSB affiliate source.

This makes it easier to get up and running promoting WPSB - just click the button to sign up.

Solved Adsense issue

In some circumstances, there was a conflict that caused adsense blocks to display incorrectly - this is now resolved.




I'll be updating the support docs for these updates soon so they'll all
be dealt with in depth there - and I'll shoot you an email with the
details.


So make sure you've updated the plugin, you can do this by clicking the
'update' button in the Codex download area. Then have a play around with
the settings :)
